We build what enterprises rely on.
Internal systems for banks, public-sector bodies and regulated companies, built by the senior engineers who architect them. No juniors, no outsourcing, no account managers.
- Audit trails
- Phased deployments
- Legacy system integration
- Access management
- Document portals
- Visitor and access registries
Why 1801
We've built for enterprises. We know what that means.
Years inside large consulting firms delivering projects for financial institutions, national retailers and regulated industries. We bring that experience directly to you, without the overhead.
No account manager, no middle layer. You work with the engineers making the decisions — you are not paying for the layers a consultancy puts between you and the work, and answers come from whoever wrote the code.
The team has built systems for national banks and large-scale retailers operating under strict compliance requirements. Audit trails, role-based access with a full audit history and single sign-on against corporate identity are how we build by default, not features bolted on at the end.
We work across multiple time zones, from Rome to Tokyo. When something needs attention it gets it, without waiting for a single office to open.

Workplace Suite for a Regulated Institution
Leading Italian financial institution · name withheld · 2025–2026 · designed and delivered by the team now at 1801
Each bug in the legacy system meant a branch grinding to a halt — check-ins failing, desks double-booked, compliance logs missing. For a regulated institution that is not an inconvenience. It is a liability.
The bank was running a legacy system riddled with bugs and service interruptions. They needed a full replacement — stable, integrated, and capable of running with high availability across a nationwide network of branches. The entire platform was built and delivered by a two-person team.
- Visitor and employee check-in. Wired into the corporate access-control system over SOAP and keyed on the HR site codes, with audit events and access logs recorded for every entry and exit.
- Public-facing document portal. Transparency documents served straight from SharePoint through the Microsoft Graph API, with guided search by company, category and site.
- Desks, parking and fleet. Hot desk management, parking allocation across multi-storey structures, and company fleet management for both fuel and electric vehicles.
Twenty admin modules, an employee portal and a reception kiosk on one Laravel 12 and Filament 4 codebase: single sign-on through Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory, role-based access with a full audit trail, queued mail and reminders. It replaced a Yii 2 application whose automated tests covered the framework skeleton and nothing else — every module carried over now has its own test suite, run in CI on each push.
“A large consultancy would have staffed 10+ people for the same scope. It shipped with two.”

Internal Management Platform
Management consulting firm · Italy · 2025–2026 · designed and delivered by the team now at 1801
Spreadsheets for leads, email for approvals, no visibility on workload or project status. The firm risked losing clients to slower response times and eroding its reputation for delivery precision — the very thing a consulting firm sells.
- People after the reorganisation
- 7 → 5
- Client requests handled
- 15/week
- Every delivery
- On time
Figures as reported by the firm's management · not independently measured.
- CRM
- Leads, clients and contacts in one record instead of scattered spreadsheets.
- Project and task management
- Gantt and workload views across the whole delivery pipeline.
- Commercial offer generation
- Offers produced inside the platform, not rebuilt by hand each time.
- Org chart and permissions
- Role-based access down the hierarchy, with HR goals and holiday tracking.
- Visitor registry
- Who is in the office, recorded and searchable.
- Knowledge base and licence vault
- Internal documentation beside a controlled store for licences.
The previous setup ran seven people and missed deadlines constantly. We started from the organisation, not the software: reshaped the team, redrew who owns which step and where the handovers happen, then built the platform around the flows we had just redesigned. Five people now cover the same work and deliver on time — by management's own account. The software did not shrink the team: the reorganisation did, and the platform is what keeps it running that way.
Services
Three things, done properly.
Three kinds of work, one standard. Every page below says what we have actually built and where we would tell you not to hire us.
- Internal systems for regulated organisations
- Workplace platforms for organisations that answer to an auditor: public transparency portals, visitor and employee access logs, roles with a full audit trail, single sign-on against Microsoft Entra ID and Active Directory. Banking and public-sector work both land here — and so does replacing the legacy system underneath, module by module, with the old one still in production.
- Integrations & API
- The systems are fine; the space between them is a person exporting a spreadsheet. API middleware, scheduled synchronisation and webhook pipelines against CRMs, ATSs, HR systems and the in-house application nobody documented — with retries, a dead letter queue and alerting that reaches a human before a colleague does.
- Platforms & CMS
- Content and catalogue platforms when the product you started on has become the bottleneck. We build and maintain our own custom CMS, in active development, and we build on it: a bilingual dealership platform live at automobilizupi.it with a vehicle catalogue, used-car valuation requests, financing enquiries and an editorial section, plus a retail e-commerce store. If an off-the-shelf platform would serve you better, we say so on the first call.
How we work
No surprises. Just results.
Four steps, every engagement. You always know where you stand, what comes next, and who to call.
Discovery
A focused 60-minute call. Your problem, your technical context, your constraints. No templates, no slide decks — just the right questions.
Architecture
Stack, integrations and risks defined before a line of code. You receive a clear technical document — approve it or change it before we build.
Build
Iterative development with direct access to the engineers writing the code. Weekly updates, no intermediaries, progress you can see.
Handover & support
Full technical documentation and knowledge transfer to your team. Post-launch support included. The system is yours, not a black box.
Our origin
A number with a story.
1801 was the street number of one of our earliest offices in Rome — a launchpad for multiple projects, a place where ideas were meant to turn into products. The office is no longer ours. But the address stayed with us.
Our team has worked inside some of Europe's most recognisable organisations — Merkle, part of the Dentsu group, and Monster, at the time part of Randstad — delivering complex enterprise systems for major clients across the continent. Today we work from Prague to Tokyo, building the kind of software we always wanted to build: reliable, scalable, enterprise-grade. Directly, without layers of management in between.
Past employment experience · no client endorsement implied.
